IMATS 2010 at the Toronto Congress Centre was a little out of the way, ~1hr away from downtown Toronto but I really enjoyed this years location. Look at the sophistication!
THE SALES
There were a few more vendors this year and the space was smaller so the event was PACKED. It felt busy and happening all day. Vendors also prepared for the huge crowds, I arrived at 10am and was able to check everything off my MakeUpForever wish list. But then again, HD blushes weren't on my list...
There were some great deals including 40% off at STILA, CoverFX, MakeUpForEver. The MUFE counter (top left in below pic) was much more organized and accessible this year. The products were laid out well and I didn't wait any longer than 5 mins to check out.

There was a new (I think?) vendor for brushes this year called CICI Fashion Brush (bottom right vendor in above pic). They had tiered discounts $5, $15, $20 for buying over $50, $100, $200. It was tempting but I love my Crown brushes. Some of CICI's selection:

NYX made a huge presence this year. The selection was great, except they didn't have the 9 shadow kit. Some prices: Blushes $6, Eyeshadow singles $4, 10 palette eyeshadows $8. Lipglosses $4.

Face Atelier was offering a 20% discount to everyone and 40% off for their Pro members, so a tip for next year - find someone with a membership at the show to get that extra discount. It's a great price to try their popular Ultra Foundation:
THE CELEBRITIES
Meet and greets with Beauty gurus Pursebuzz and EnKore.
Eve Pearl, the celebrity makeup artist made it to the show this year and we got to see her in action.
THE MAGIC OF MAKEUP ART
Mad Hatter was the winner for this year's student competition. So creative!
It was another successful year for IMATS Toronto. Like last year, I spent the day with blogging BFF's Rasilla and awatercoloursky. Do you remember that was the first day we met?? We should've celebrated more! =D
I also had a lot of fun meeting:
Glitter Geek - great recap on MUFE's Kevin James Bennett presentation if you missed it
Lipstick Rules
Beauty Parler - check out her video tour which takes you through the entire IMATS layout
Faces by Farah
Spiced Beauty - video highlights from some presentations
IcySwirls
Looking forward to your posts if you haven't posted already =)
If we didn't meet at IMATS this year, I hope to see you next year! Esp you skinniegenes! From your post I can see that we JUST missed each other every time.
Continue to part 2 for the HAUL

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I see you got a full shot of Mad Hatter! All I could get was her close up face shot without the wig. :(
ReplyDeleteIt was great meeting you. :)
By the way after looking at my pictures, I really love your grey bag! Where did you get it? :P
ReplyDeleteCool. I knew someone who went to a make up artist conference in Sydney. A lot of the make up artists from the lord of the rings were there, displaying their work lol.
ReplyDeleteone japanese group had $400 brushes..b/c they specially selected the hairs from a breed of fox and put the brushes together without cutting any hairs ><
she gotta way with a lotta goods as well..and got me all converted into skin care products, esp tinted spf moisturizers ^^
it looks like so much fun!
Oh yea..we found a totally nerd way of sampling beauty products. Eppendorf tubes. they're small enough that if you hide them in your hand and pour foundation into them, it just looks you're testing the product on your skin. And you can get a small enough sample in the tubes to try up to 2-3x at home, and see how feels and looks on your face.
ReplyDeleteMy face reacts to almost everything after a day so it was a cool experiment to try out on various foundations and moisturizers.
Aw thanks, my blog does make me happy ^^
ReplyDeleteOooh, new vanity table? That's super fantastic! Vanity tables are definitely a must for ladies like us haha.
